You who feel the world deeply: Earth protectors, justice workers, farmers, artists, educators, healers, makers, musicians, you whose vocation defies description, and you whose vocation does not define you..
Perhaps you have heard of ecophilosopher, Joanna Macy? If not, now you have!
She is a wise and beloved elder who has dedicated her life to environmental activism, Buddhism, teaching, and writing. Along the way she has created an open-source body of work called the Work That Reconnects (WTR), to empower people to stay open and tender to the pain of the world without becoming paralyzed by it:
"Drawing from deep ecology, systems theory, and spiritual traditions, the Work That Reconnects (WTR) builds motivation, creativity, courage and solidarity for the transition to a sustainable human culture."
Mary Ann Percy, a local Earth protectress, end-of-life servant, and student of Joanna Macy will soon be offering a workshop exploring the Work That Reconnects.
There will be experiential practices, movement, inspirational teachings, and simple rituals. We'll summon our capacity for connection and courage to respond to Earth's call and the good work that is ours to do.
The gathering will be on October 30th from 1:00-5:00 at the Belltower Community Center (a.k.a. the Purple Church).
There is a suggested donation of $15-50 but no one will be turned away due to cost. All are welcome!
