What do you see when you go to the beach on a regular day? Perhaps some sand buckets and maybe a hermit crab. After sundown? Nothing but a closed gate.
On the 29th of January at Larrabee State Park at 7pm, join Doug Stark, local marine biologist and Beach Naturalist extraordinaire, in opening the gate to discovery of a new world of critters that come out only when the tide had dropped and the sun has set.
Doug and Beach Naturalist volunteers will lead small groups down rocky park trials to explore the beach at Wildcat Cove. Participants will explore Larrabee's shore flashlights in hand, seeking out the intertidal zone's more elusive denizens.
Getting there: Enter the park using the upper day-use area just inside the main gate.
To register : email alicy@re-sources.org or call Matt Krogh at (360) 733-8307. (the event is free.
