Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition?
I am a student at Western, about to graduate (June 2011) and am very interested in becoming involved with sustaianable agriculture, permaculture, biodynamic farming methods and community projects.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I am motivated to help find ways of expanding a greater awareness of farming, food culture, self-sufficiency and nutritious and healthy lifestyles for others particularly in my generation. I would like to find the balance of traditional and modern knowledge of living in a productive community with very different people. I value the discussion of these issues between people of various generations in pursuit of a more holistic understanding.
Do you have particular interests, skills, talents or resources you would like to bring to Transition Whatcom?
I am enthusiastic about learning and experiencing new things. I love to hear stories from people about how they farm, live, work, play, and create. I am an excellent weed puller and enjoy cooking food as well as building chicken coops.
In what neighborhood or part of the county do you reside?
Sehome Neighborhood
Where did you hear about Transition Whatcom and how did you find our community network website?

Hi Meaghen! Welcome to the Earth Gardens Network. Many of us share our events & news through Shannon who volunteers to email out her local Garden E-News. You can get on the Garden E-News list by passing on your email either to me, or to her. Here is a new member info link that may be helpful too-

Today, Thurs, there is a SB Roving Garden Party at the Outback Farm! Info under the events page.

Alan S, from our Democracy School will be sharing at our Monday study group sometime in the next month. Be sure to try to attend when the date is chosen!

Hi Meaghan!  Good to meet you at Democracy School!  Hope you'll connect up with some of the Roving Garden party's on Thursday.  Info either under Events page, or on Sustainable Bellinham website.  In fact, I think this coming Thurs will be at David Z and the Alternative Library!   I'll send you link to Earth Gardens network later, or you can find it on my personal TW page.

Wouldn't it be incredible if Gigi or another professor, had the Democracy School weekend be part of a social permaculture class?!

Welcome to Transition Whatcom Meagan. My name is Kyler and I am a recent community college student working on meeting more people interested in sustainability issues in Bellingham. I am working on some community gardens. I will be a first time gardener this year (trying to reduce the food bill is one motivation).

Anyhow, just wanted to say Hello and Welcome!

Hi Meaghan! So glad you found me on here! This site is such a fantastic resource, it's all the potential that social networking has without too much other noise.  I see you also joined the GMO awareness and action group, will you be coming to Matia's presentation on Monday on Seed Sovereignty?  Try and make it and encourage your friends, it's a very important topic and Matia gives a bang-up presentation!
