Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition?
I'm moving to Bellingham, and looking for a way to plug in to the community and this effort in particular!
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
In the past year I have co-founded a mobile arts collective. We are moving towards a dream of self-reliance, a creative and energetic lifestyle, a respectful relationship with our planet (that includes the earth and the life it supports), strong community and collaboration, and the ability to grow our own food. We have been exploring through skill shares and work exchange ways to put all of these dreams into a practical reality, but are now on a hiatus to pursue specific individual goals to raise money for an SVO conversion for our bus. I am attempting to gather more skills and experiences in projects and with people, many of which I've found are supported by the Transition movement, who share my intentions for this world.
Do you have particular interests, skills, talents or resources you would like to bring to Transition Whatcom?
I am a visual artist, community organizer, and eager to learn. I've had sort of a crash course in permaculture and small-scale organic farming in the last six months, but have much more of this world to absorb. I love hearing people's stories and picking their brains, and also to connect people I know to one another for the purpose of idea-sharing and collaboration. I am good with internet and other forms of networking and outreach, and have experience keeping up a blog for our collective, documenting our educational experiences. In my studio practice, I enjoy working with recycled materials and also drawing and painting from dream imagery.
In what neighborhood or part of the county do you reside?
Soon to be Bellingham, most recently Asheville, NC and Philadelphia, PA.

Where did you hear about Transition Whatcom and how did you find our community network website?
Some members of the Couchsurfing community pointed em in your direction!

I am looking for my role in the Bellingham community/sustainability effort!
