How are you currently involved in the Transition?

My family has been practicing small scale farming as our major family project for a number of years. We are working slowly towards growing all of our own food and hopeful surplus for the community. I'm also interested in wild and semi wild plants for food and medicine. We do some of our transporting in our cargo bike and we've been composting our own poop for the last three years!

In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?

I love the earth and want to live sanely as a part of her, not as a distant technological overlord. To me, Peak Oil is just another excellent reason to start interacting with our local dirt, plants, and people.

Do you have particular interests, skills, talents or resources you would like to bring to Transition Whatcom?

We've slowly been building up all the great body of skills that it takes to be food producers. These days I'm particularly into fermenting food. We get variously obsessed about mushrooms and permaculture and homebirthing and homeschool. We have a nice little patch of land for radical gardening experiments. One of these days we're going to build a really good sauna for people to sit in and sweat while they talk about the transition.

In what neighborhood or part of the county do you reside?

North Ferndale.
