Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition?
Currently I am not involved in Transition. I am looking into possible ways to become involved.
Currently I am in the process of applying for a Finland visa, for continued study abroad, and plan to be in the Seattle area, visiting friends, beginning in July, while waiting for the visa application to be processed, which ay take until September.
I thought about using the time to get acquainted first-hand with some of the Transition work in western WA
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I have had several years of experience in alternative / volunteer work with nonprofit organizations which have aims and ideals similar to those of Transition. I would like to continue to be active long-term in alternative / non-profit movements or organizations. I think that I could continue to apply my skills to Transition work, while trying to combine that with learning new skills and ideas specifically focused on ecology, sustainability, and alternatives of organizing work and economy.
Do you have particular interests, skills, talents or resources you would like to bring to Transition Whatcom?
My experience and skills are in the areas of translation, education, research, writing / editing / proofreading, mostly with nonprofit or non-governmental organizations. I have learned several foreign languages and would like to use language and writing skills for written communication, for example, with other Transition groups in other countries.
In what neighborhood or part of the county do you reside?
Cuurently studying in Denmark, but will be in Seattle area from July, for a few weeks or months, while waiting for results of visa applications for study abroad.
Where did you hear about Transition Whatcom and how did you find our community network website?
As far as I can remember, several years ago, I learned about Transition from a mailing list that I subscribed to, for alternative / nonprofit organizations and movements.
Over the years I continued to read various Transition initiatives, without actually joining one, since I was engaged full-time in study or volunteer work.
It seemed to be a good idea to use the weeks / months of waiting (while visiting friends in the Seattle area) for results of the visa application for study abroad, to explore possibilities for short-term and possibily long-term involvement with Transition initiatives.
I searched the Transition website for initiatives in western WA and wrote to a few of these.

Noted. I would prefer to answer as much as possible now.
