Wanted – Members using 'Life-Dollars' with Fourth Corner Exchange!
Consider adding your name to this discussion thread if you are a Fourth Corner Exchange (FCE) member that exchanges life-dollars. The FCE “mission is to create a world of economic democracy by rebuilding our communities through teaching people how to use a community currency in a socially just and responsible manner...We are based in the Pacific Northwest USA... & we have grown to over eight-hundred members, exchanging a large selection of goods & services throughout the Pacific Northwest, centered around Bellingham and Port Townsend.....Currently we have over eight-hundred participating members, with branches in Washington, Oregon, Colorado, New Mexico, Ohio, California in the USA and other local chapters in Canada and Sweden.”

I'm also an advocate of having more than one exchange currency, and encouraging the creation of a 'community-coop owned exchange currancy' that is non-profit or owned by the workers/exhcangers') …

Fourth Corner Exchange is much more than an alternative currency, it is both a way to have luxuries that we would not ordinarily spend US dollars on and a way to meet people who are performing services that they love to do. For example, we all have things we hate to do. FCX is a great way to find people who love to do those things. Detail your car, wash your windows, spring clean, make dinner for you, that list of things you can't get your spouse to do for you, etc, anything goes. You can offer something you love to do and enjoy making life dollars, or sell the stuff that no longer serves you. Best of all, there is no interest charged if you go 'into commitment'.
The whole secret is to ASK for whatever you WANT. People will show up and give you what you want! I have a friend who painted and furnished her whole house with LDs, (she had to buy the paint with cash but the labor and everything else was all LDs.)

Fourth Corner Exchange is a medium to practice designing win-win solutions as well. For example, you can use Life Dollars to hire someone to fix your elderly neighbor's porch..or to buy presents for people (saves cash) or donate some LDs to a good cause.

So consider joining, jump in! It's $45 a year, but they give you 3 LDs in return (worth $30). The $45 is for operating expenses, like any other bank charges for checks and service fees but the rewards are much greater. We have chiropractors, masseuses, naturopaths, carpenters, lots of self-help people, farmers. Members have generated almost three quarters of a million dollars worth of trades since FCX started.
