Event Description

Nationally known seabird and conservation biologist, Dr. Julia Parrish, of Coastal Observation and Seabird Survey Team (COASST) and the Director of the University of Washington's Program on the Environment, will speak about Seabirds as Environmental Indicators, as part of the Whatcom Watershed Information Network lecture series. The talk is co-hosted by RE Sources for Sustainable Communities, Whatcom County Marine Resources Committee (MRC), and People for Puget Sound.

COASST, founded by Dr. Parrish, trains hundreds of citizens to collect data on beached seabirds, which is then used to understand upsets in the marine ecosystem.
