Co-op Farm Fund Hootenanny Benefit
The Hootenanny is back by popular request. Join the fun and support local farms! The Community Food Co-op is happy to co-sponsor this lively, fun community event with Sustainable Connections as part of Eat Local Month.
Sunday, Sept. 6 (Labor Day weekend)
Boundary Bay Brewery Beer Garden
6 p.m.: Doors open
6:30–7:30 p.m.: Square dance with caller John Hatten and “The Great Big Taters,” an ensemble of some of Bellingham’s best old-timey musicians. Join in or enjoy from the sidelines (this was a huge hit the last two years; beginners and all ages welcome).
7:30–8 pm: Farmer recognition and awards.
8–9:30 pm: Dance to The Penny Stinkers!
$5 to $20 donation at the door. All ages, everyone welcome.
The Hootenanny is also the kickoff event for the Co-op’s “Let’s Grow It!” fundraising campaign. The Whatcom Community Foundation has generously pledged to match every dollar donated to the Co-op’s Farm Fund up to $15,000. Co-op Farm Fund donations are accepted at Co-op registers, Industrial Credit Union locations, or online at communityfood.coop. There’s no better time to join the campaign. “Let’s Grow It” today and raise $30,000 for our local, sustainable food and farming community!
Eat and drink local goods throughout the night (available by purchase)—delicious local Boundary Bay BBQ!
