Sorry to be so reticent lately but I have been swamped with getting Whatcom Folk School up and running.  Perhaps someone would like to do some Heart and Soul classes this summer?  I was thinking of doing a discussion group - attend however many you want - and am wondering if someone would also like to do some Heart and Soul classes.

There has been quite a bit of interest in doing different medicine classes - how about some medicine for the heart!?1

Go to WWW.WHATCOMFOLKSCHOOL.ORG and check it out.

Anyone reading this book by Carolyn Baker?  Here is the chance to take an on-line course from her.  I am just reading the book - so far I like it but I am not very far yet.  It's an approach to the transition of the Heart and Soul.  Village Books ordered it for me.  They might have it.

Hi Laura,  i'm beginning to catch up on my email after weeks of giving my eyes a rest.  I really miss the monthly potlucks and would love to get them started again.  Would you like to get together to talk about this?  Anyone else?

I agree with Cyndy that different people seem to want different things from this group.

I have noticed (and heard others observe) that when emphasis is put on wanting the Heart and Soul group to lead to DOING things, i.e. going out and serving or educating the community in some way, people's energy seems to drain away. Perhaps what our community needs this group to be right now is a place for people to come and connect with each other without expectations. Just about every other working group has a service component - maybe we need one that is just a place to nourish ourselves.

I, alas, have no time or energy right now for organizing anything, but last I heard the folks at The Ground Floor were still willing to host Heart and Soul gatherings.

Hi Laura, Unfortunately I've gotten myself overcommitted otherwise I'd join you at a meeting....I'm very supportive of this group, and think it is a hard one to create as so many have different wants and needs. I've been volunteering for Bellingham Institute of Noetic Sciences (BIONS) for a few years now, and many enjoy this gathering to meet some of their heart and soul needs. Maybe some from Transition Whatcom would be interested as well. Our website is www.bellinghamions.blogspot.com. Our event in February which should be up on our website in a day or two, is a metaphysical and spiritual book/dvd/cd swap plus time to meet others! We are also open to other program ideas as well as more volunteers. We usually meet once a month on the 3rd Thursday in the FIreplace room in the Fairhaven Library, (except this month). Anyway, join us! We have a suggested donation, but no one will be turned away. Cyndy

Hi all,

I'm wondering if we can have a meeting?

An invitation- looks like a good sermon for heart and soul, this week at the Unitarians:

"Elemental Emotions
and the Spirit"
The Rev. Doug Wadkins, Andy Marshall and the BUF Choir
When you really think about the idea, it makes perfect sense: One of the greatest spiritual teachers is deep within us. It is in the form of our powerful and sometimes primal emotions. Their lessons can be difficult, but also the key ways that we work with and sort through our most potent feelings. Music, readings and reflections will help us explore this important idea.

Sunday, 9:15 and again at 11:15. Unitarian Fellowship- 1207 Ellsworth, behind the Cat Clinic on Dupont.

Venue possibilities: The "in formaton" co-working space is open to having events. It's at Cornwall and Ohio, across the street from Bham HS (sign says ACN). Seats about 50. Might not charge.
The Fireplace Room at the Fairhaven library was packed for the BIONS showing of a video recently. Maybe the name number of people?

How about pulling together some talks from TED.com and showing those? There is doom and gloom there as well, but also a lot of inspiring creativity. They are 20 minute talks by some of the most creative and informed people on the planet.

Hey all- we'd love some inspiration for the Film Series. We kind of ran into a lot of "bad things happening with energy, soil, water, etc" and were pretty much preaching to the choir- which was about ready to commit mass suicide anyway. Anything informative and uplifting welcome! There is a 'group' so put your suggestions there.
