'I Dance!' A Living Dance Workshop is a (mostly) outdoor dance workshop in the glory of summer in the Pacific NW. It is about the joy of dancing, speaking, and singing as our multi-faceted selves. It is about diversity. It is about union. It is about stillness and silence. It is about communion with spirit and nature - living in harmony with the Earth and each other!
This living workshop will be in the form of a Tuesday evening class in Angela and David MacLeod’s beautiful Bellingham backyard garden for 12 weeks, starting June 21 and ending Sept 6. We will have the use of their house in case of rain, and when what we're doing lends itself to an indoor experience. We will gather at 6:15, start the class at 6:30, and end at 8:30pm.
'I Dance' includes a Saturday daytime class in a beautiful country setting near Kendall on July 23, from 11 am to 5 pm.
In each class we will have a half hour warm-up time with recorded (and perhaps live) music provided by our hosts and DJs, Angela and David; this is a chance to arrive, breathe, relax and get into our bodies in our own way. We will find our own connection to the aliveness and beauty of nature.
The rest of the time will include various options. Susan Price, our facilitator, will offer simple movement scores, gentle frameworks, in which to connect to our own authentic movement. We will have some group activities and pair off for others. We will cultivate the art of seeing and being seen. We will dance from the inside out, finding our way to movement that feels connected to who we are in the moment, movement that is meaningful to us, without needing to look a certain way. We will be using movements, words and possibly music we create to stitch together a performance piece that we will perform fully as part of our ongoing practice. We can choose as a group to share this with others or not. We will sit in council circle and speak our truth from our hearts.
The first class is free - come check it out!
The suggested donation for the whole series is a sliding scale of $125-150. If this is not affordable for you, please email or call so we can make it work for all of us! Phone 360.609.8207.
Starting with the second class, it will be closed to newcomers, and will be for those people who are committed to the 12 evening classes and the Saturday daytime event. Half of the donation will be received then, and the other half in the 7th class.
Please RSVP Susan Price, email@example.com, for both the first class and the whole workshop. It will help us plan to know how many people are coming. Because of space considerations, the size of the workshop will be limited to 13 people, first come, first served, in the form of the RSVP.
About Susan Price:
Sus Price first came fully alive as a dancer at a Contact Improv workshop when she was a student at Fairhaven College. She then began exploring and then teaching various forms of Post Modern Dance, including six weeks studying Contact Improv in San Francisco, and many workshops with Deborah Hay. She helped to form and perform in the groups Trillium and Starfish Ensemble. The freedom and play she experienced in Contact Improv, Ecstatic Dance and Authentic Movement, continue to the present. In recent years she has found deep connection and soul satisfaction dancing in nature.

Includes wifi, utilities, garbage/recycle service. ~ 2 bdrm, 2 bath home on 5 acres and a view of Mt Baker from the garden; 10 minutes from I-5 freeway and Sunset. I am 52 year old single woman, no children with a small dog that is a friendly service animal to my elderly clients, plus two cats. I love to cook/bake and preserve foods, am independent, enjoy people but also cherish my quiet/private time, and an avid gardener and textile artist. We will share a fully furnished living room, kitchen, laundry and the land. The landowners live up the hill behind the house. There is woods right out the back door for strolling and hanging out in, spaces for hammock, chaise lounge and lots of gardens. It is a peaceful place and a quiet place to study. I work varied hours and I am seeking a financially stable non-smoker who would like to live in the country and loves animals. There will be fresh berries next summer and plenty of room to grow veggies, fruit and flowers. Love of gardening a plus, but not required. First, last and damage deposit is $300; no onsite storage or other pets (small pet okay - fish, bird, reptile, etc). If interested: please tell me about yourself, give me a phone number for phone chat/skype, please share a photo or two+ if you can and what about my ad is of interest for you! :) Thank you, Jamie and the critters....
CREATIVE NAVIGATION of ENERGY DESCENT:
Opportunities for Spiritual & Social Transformation
We will explore the world in crisis and chaos as an opportunity for social and spiritual transformation as we form stronger connections to the earth’s natural patterns and to each other.
This presentation will consider appropriate responses to current concerns about resource depletion, climate change, and the unsustainability of current economic structures; all of which are leading some to argue that we are entering a new era signaled by the end of economic growth and declining fossil fuel energy.
We tend to have horrible visions associated with downturns and “collapse.” Can we even entertain the possibility that we might be entering a period of decline in energy and standard of living? Can we redefine “growth” to refer to our human potential rather than to our GDP? Perhaps we can learn to expand our consciousness and increase cooperative behaviors as we ride the wave down the peak oil curve.
This presentation will be supported by a new systems thinking tool called PatternDynamics™. Inspired by Permaculture’s emphasis on natural patterns and principles, PatternDynamics combines the patterns of nature with the power of language. The result is a tool which helps us understand and communicate ways of supporting resilience. We will learn some of the dynamic patterns that could assist us in creatively navigating our way through an energy descending world.

I think it's cool that are asking community for input on this topic of creating a rite of passage for turning 50. I turned 50 four years ago and created a celebration ritual including a group of 12 or so. If you'd like to hear about my process with that, I'd be happy to share.
Saturday October 12, I am offering an all day workshop based on Joanna Macy's Work that Reconnects. This is an opportunity to share our relationship with our planet, our experience of living in these times, and to strengthen and affirm our capacity to act for the greater good.
Please join me. Check the Events page for details.
for the green earth, Emily
