We are a nonprofit camp near Lake McMurray WA. And we would like to add natural buildings to our property. We would also love to host natural training in gardening, and eco-friendly practices. This is a transitional period for us, as we are looking at reducing our footprint and encouraging others to do so as well. You can check us out on the web at www.campbrotherhood.org and find out more of who we are.

well friends it has been an eventful spring, we built two new earthovens in bellingham,

an i have moved on towards the southwest. I will be keeping some roots in bellingham as our cabin will be rented out for the sunny months. I hope the oven builders and bread makers can converge into a medieval renaissance of baking and potlucking, at least that was my plan,

I will continue to track thos group and want to lend my support when possible.

I recently spent a month up at OUR eco village on vancouver island and a few things came to light for me and my reasons why Im a natural builder.
First the background... I have been a part of OUR for six years now and on my first trip there I participated in a shamanic quest to hear the land speak for OUR ecovillage development . I experienced traveling far away to a village and was overcome with grief and sorrow for about an hour following with no apparent reason. During this last trip I…

First the background... I have been a part of OUR for six years now and on my first trip there I participated in a shamanic quest to hear the land speak for OUR ecovillage development . I experienced traveling far away to a village and was overcome with grief and sorrow for about an hour following with no apparent reason. During this last trip I realized that I experienced returning home to a village I had forgotten.
Now in light of what we are doing here at Transition Whatcom Is creating that village that we have forgotten. The new kinds of connections that this commujnity is creating are like that which holds villages together, the linking of fates and culture together with our nieghbors is what I believe is happening.
It has been along time since we have lived together as a united village and I believe we are recreating what that means and it is of the upmost importance that we keep on creating.
Natural building, can be described as any construction process in which takes into consideration the embodied energy, ecological impact, and life cycle of materials used and techniques employed. As a natural builder I consider the use of local raw materials more attractive than manufactured exotic (imported) materials while also weaving recycled materials into the fabric of construction. I see the goal of natural building as creating dwellings and spaces that are in balance and harmony with the…
