SUMMARY:\"Walking Whatcom Waters\" Event at The River Farm
DESCRIPTION:Regenerate Whatcom, in conjunction with others in our comm
unity, is planning a series of events called Walking Whatcom Waters.
\r\nThese events are envisioned to be feet-on-the-ground \"design imme
rsions\" that will assist us in our work of regenerating our bioregion
. \r\n\r\nOur time at The River Farm will include walking the land an
d water with steward and artist Bruce Myers, with comments and reflect
ions led by permaculture and water expert Brian Kerkvliet, of Inspirat
ion Farm. \r\n\r\nWe'll visit the oxbow area of the forest and see ho
w it ties to the river and seasonal wetlands, water catchment and infi
ltration.\r\nWe'll see how Bruce works with water to create art.\r\nWe
'll visit a spot along the river that has a log jam, and discuss river
ecology and dynamics.\r\nWe'll have some alone time to meditate with
the river. \r\nWe'll have a potluck to share good food and good discu
 ssion.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nPlease let us know of your int
erest by sending an RSVP email to whatcom@regeneratecascadia.org.\r\n\
r\n\r\n\r\nThis series intends to address some or all of the following
  topics:\r\n\r\nBasic water dynamics education\r\nIndigenous perspecti
ves on water\r\nWater’s role in climate change\r\nThe Water Adjudica
tion process currently facing county residents, tribes, and farms\r\nW
ater issues at River Farm and other locations we'll be visiting\r\nHow
River Farm specifically is thinking about and approaching water right
s issues\r\nHow water stewardship dovetails with forest management etc
.\r\nProvide a bridge between water rights issues and broader systems
thinking and interventions\r\nPosition water education as a foundation
for  abilities to navigate the broader processes of regenerating our
  bioregion\r\n\n\nFor more information visit https://transitionwhatcom
