SUMMARY:Transition Whatcom Book Study Group
DESCRIPTION:By request, we are having a  second meeting on the \"Conn
ecting\" section of the book.\nJoin us on Thursday, Sept. 5th at 6:30P
M as we continue our study of The Transition Companion, by Rob Hopkin
 s. (review)\nThis month: Looking at the \"Connecting\" section.  Topi
cs included in this chapter are:\nForming networks, involving the coun
cil, working with local businesses, oral histories, engaging young peo
ple, the role of storytelling, and pausing for reflection. And 6 Trans
ition Tools.\n  \nCome to the meeting with Three ideas you found insp
iring generated from the readings in \"Connecting\" - either things yo
u would like to more learn about, things you would be interested in te
aching or things you would like to do as a work day with the group.\nW
e will continue to meet on the first Thursday of the month until we ar
e done with the book.\nOwnership of the book would be helpful, but not
necessary.  If you have the earlier Transition Handbook, we will hav
e some comparison between the two.  Many important parts of the Trans
ition Companion are available online as the Transition Ingredients.\n
If you'd like to purchase the book, please consider purchasing from th
e TW Bookstore page here (via Village Books).  Purchases from our b
ookstore support both TW and our locally owned independent bookstore.\
 n\nYou can call Warren (650 380 3231) with any questions.\n\nThis is a
n Open Group. Drop-Ins are welcome!\n\nFor more information visit http
