SUMMARY:Transition Whatcom Book Study Group
DESCRIPTION:Upon the cancellation of the Election Forum, we are going
to have a book study group after all - and we will discuss how Transit
ion is to involve the council!\nJoin us on Thursday, August 1st at 6:3
0PM as we continue our study of The Transition Companion, by Rob Hopk
ins. (review)\nThis month: Looking at the \"Connecting\" section.  To
pics included in this chapter are:\nForming networks, involving the co
uncil, working with local businesses, oral histories, engaging young p
eople, the role of storytelling, and pausing for reflection. And 6 Tra
nsition Tools.\n  \nCome to the meeting with Three ideas you found in
spiring generated from the readings in \"Deepening\" - either things y
ou would like to more learn about, things you would be interested in t
eaching or things you would like to do as a work day with the group.\n
We will continue to meet on the first Thursday of the month until we a
re done with the book.\nOwnership of the book would be helpful, but no
t necessary.  If you have the earlier Transition Handbook, we will ha
ve some comparison between the two.  Many important parts of the Tran
sition Companion are available online as the Transition Ingredients.\
nIf you'd like to purchase the book, please consider purchasing from t
he TW Bookstore page here (via Village Books).  Purchases from our
bookstore support both TW and our locally owned independent bookstore.
 \n\nYou can call Warren (650 380 3231) with any questions.\n\nThis is
an Open Group. Drop-Ins are welcome!\n\nFor more information visit htt
