Event Description

Transition Seattle is hosting the first Northwest/Cascadia regional Transition Summit, at South Seattle Community College. We're expecting Transition leaders from Victoria BC, Vancouver BC, Portland OR, Sandpoint ID, and many other locations.

The primary focus this time will be on connecting existing Transition groups with each other and creating opportunities for mutual support. All are welcome, but this will not be the best opportunity for newcomers to learn about Transition. If you're already familiar with the concepts of Transition, come and be inspired!

The event takes place on September 16, 2010, from 8:30 am to 8 pm. For more information, or to register, go to the information page.

Register to Attend
Pre-order Meals
Attendance is free because Seattle Community College has graciously donated the venue. We ask you to register for attendance using the link above, so that we can have an idea how many will attend.

Meals
The meals are going to be prepared by Chris Wolf from Transition Whatcom using all/mostly local organic food and re-usable utensils.
Location
We're happy to announce that this Summit will be held at South Seattle Community College.

Some attendees will stay for the 2010 Northwest Permaculture Convergence, which runs at the same location from Sept 17-19.

We will email details on the location and directions to those who have registered. (If you're not sure whether you registered, feel free to register again.)

The event is expected to run from 8:30 am to 7pm, Thursday Sept 16, 2010.

So far I haven't seen anyone show any interest in going down Wed. evening (and don't know if Camp Long cabin is available).

Anyone familiar enough with Seattle rush hour traffic to know how early we'd need to leave b'ham on Thurs. morning to get settled into the Transition convergence on time?

Since I'm not staying for the Permie convergence, it sounds like I have 2 options: One is to travel with Kate and come back Thurs evening, and the other is to drive Cindi down Thurs morning, spend the night, and drive myself home on Friday. My leaning at the moment is to stay the night rather than rush home. Anyone else wanting to come back on Friday?

Camp Long website (I don't see a list of what to bring, but a short list of common sense rules):

From Cindi Landreth:

There is room in Cabin 7 for 6. So far that is:

1. Cindi (Th/Fr/Sat)

2. Jamie (Th/Fr/Sat)

3. Bruce (Th/Fr/Sat)

4. Chris (Th/Fr/Sat)

5. David Macleod (Thurs only)?

When you sign in to the PC, sign in for Cabin 7. They are expecting this.

I paid for Cabin 7 for Thursday night ($40). Once we get a head count, let’s just divide by the number of heads and then pay me. (With all 6 beds filled, about $7 – with just us 5, it would be $8.

I would like to carpool but not take my car as I want to ride home with Rick. (He will be dropping a friend off at the airport on Sunday night.)

Carpooling & ride sharing could be done here...or there is an Amtrack train that would get to Seattle the night before in time for the start.
