DESCRIPTION:The Transition movement is a set of inspiring ideas for cr
 eating an attractive and enticing vision of how our communities could 
 be. It starts with the recognition that the world is facing both clima
 te change and oil depletion. These twin crises cannot be solved separa
 tely, and they cannot be solved with technological miracles, but only 
 by lessening our dependence on fossil fuels. This doesn't mean a bleak
 er future. The heart of Transition is the belief that if we engage wit
 h enough imagination and ingenuity to unlock the collective genius of 
 the community, we can choose a future that is even better than the pre
 sent.\n\nThere are hundreds of communities throughout the world adopti
 ng the transition model. Learn how you can be part of the solution.\n\
 nWhat You Will Learn\nThis training will follow the transition model i
 n paying attention to both the outer work and the inner work necessary
  for a successful transition process. This will be a participatory pro
 cess, with participants invited to share their own experience and lear
 n from the many different transition initiatives represented at each c

 ho have been trained by the founders of Transition Training and are no
 w certified Transition Trainers:\n\nWilliam Aal has been a trainer and
  organizer for the past 20 years, helping communities with diverse pop
 ulations transform to be more just and sustainable.\n\nCindi Landreth 
 Cindi is a founding board member of Sustainable Connections; is a host
  for the Changing the Dream Open Space Salon; and is a facilitator for
  the Pachamama Alliance's Awakening the Dreamer, Changing the Dream Sy
 mposium.\n\nRick Dubrow Rick serves on the Board of RE Sources. He co-
 founded Sustainable Connections, was chosen by Governor Locke to atten
 d the Leadership Summit for a Sustainable Washington; and was selected
  by Bellingham's Mayor and Whatcom County's County Executive to the 18
 -member Energy Resource Scarcity/Peak Oil Task Force (ERSPO).\n\nDavid
  Johnson recently moved to Portland, Oregon from the UK. He worked wit
 h Rob Hopkins, the founder of the Transition Initiative, where his bac
 kground in ecopsychology helped inform Rob's thinking around the Heart
  & Soul aspects of Transition.\n\nSchedule\nSaturday, May 2, 9:00 a.m.
