SUMMARY:Training For Transition
DESCRIPTION:This is a two day workshop to better educate people about 
 how to ease through the challenges facing communities today such as pe
 ak oil, climate change, and the economic crisis. It is a positive appr
 oach of focusing on solutions that lead to a more satisfying life.\n\n
 This training will follow the transition model in paying attention to 
 both the outer work and the inner work necessary for a successful tran
 sition process. This will be a participatory process, with participant
 s invited to share their own experience and learn from the many differ
 ent transition initiatives represented at the course.\n\nAt the end of
  the course, participants will:\n\n1. Have a clear understanding of th
 e context for Transition Initiatives, the current global situation and
  the transformational possibilities that arise from climate change, pe
 ak oil prices and the economic crisis.\n\n2. Know what the Transition 
 model is - including an in-depth look at the 12 steps, from inspiratio
 n, setting up the initiating group, all the way to having active and e
 ffective working groups.\n\n3. Understand how to organize effective me
 etings such as public talks, open space days, and small theme working 
 groups.\n\n4. Have experienced a joint visioning process.\n\n5. Unders
 tand the purpose and principles of an Energy Decent Action Plan.\n\n6.
  Have the outline of an effective and inspiring talk on the Transition
  movement.\n\n7. Have formed useful contacts with other Transition Ini
 tiatives and individuals interested in the Transition model.\n\n8. Hav
 e a plan of action for themselves and their locality.\n\nWho should at
 tend? Anyone wanting to know more and are considering initiating trans
 ition work in their lives and for their community, as well as Transiti
 on Whatcom Work Group leaders and members.\n\n$150.00 for both days. A
 dvance Registration is required.\nOnce class is full I will send out m
 ore details to those attending.\n\nA limited number of partial scholar
 ships are available for residents of Whatcom County. Priority will be 
 given for most of them to future leaders of Transition Whatcom.\n\nPle
