SUMMARY:Swale Making Part 2
DESCRIPTION:Hi all,   David and I have been making some big changes o
n our property to make it more efficient for gardening and for dealing
with the water in the land (excess). We've had the great fortune of h
aving Brian Kerkvliet here to design and implement swales and we had a
swale making event here last weekend that went wonderfully. We turned
it into a learning experience and invited people to participate. Bria
n taught and demonstrated and we all rolled up our sleves to help in t
he process. Leading up to the weekend hands-on event I had been keepin
g a blog describing the steps we took to prepare for the swale making.
If you would like to read about that take the link below to see: htt

We got about 2/3 of the way done with the implementation of swales las
t weekend and next Sunday we plan to finish. Here's why I'm posting t
his. We could really use some help with the final stage. We will be ha
uling gravel in wheel barrows to the site....heavy. There might also b
e some fine tuning of the swales with shovels and rakes...lighter work
. If you would like to help let me know by calling (360) 733-3541. W
e will meet on Sunday June 30th starting at 9 AM. We'll start right in
with the hands-on work. Brian will explain what we are doing as we do
it but we'll leave most of the talk and questions for after the work
is done.  I will be providing Lunch and snacks and beverages. If you
want to come to part but can't make it to the whole time that is fine.
This would also be an opportunity to learn about how swales can be
utilized on any size of property. Brian is an excellent teacher and he
's getting really good at this kind of work. Kids and pets would not
be a good idea as we have some big holes and ditches in the property.
Although you can give me a call about kids or pets if you want to see
about exceptions. So the schedule is basically: 9 am to noonish: Han
ds on work in the morning -- probably a couple of hours work and this
is when we need the help. Noonish: Lunch provided by Angela During and
after lunch: Overview of the design process and principles, and imple
mentation of Swales. \n\nFor more information visit https://transition
