 com are hosting this workshop on Placemaking. What is Placemaking, you
  say?\nFrom City Repair's website (cityrepair.org) placemaking is a pr
 ocess within which citizens foster active, engaged relationships to th
 e spaces which they inhabit, and shape those spaces in a way which cre
 ates a sense of communal stewardship and lived connection.  This is m
 ost often accomplished through a creative reclamation of public space:
  projects which take the form of benches on street corners where neigh
 bors can sit, rest and talk with each other, kiosks on sidewalks where
  neighbors can post information about local events, needs and resource
 s and street paintings in the public right-of-way that demonstrate to 
 all who pass through that this is a Place: inhabited, known and loved 
 by its residents.\nOr in another scenario, imagine the earthquake in J
 apan....where did neighbors go after the earthquake? How did they know
  where to gather? The process of placemaking will create a cohesive, c
 onnected and informed neighborhood.\nFriday event will involve an hour
  of hands on from 6:00 to 7:30, then a presentation about Placemaking 
 efforts by City repair.\nPractice your skills on Saturday, May 14th fo
 r a practice day at the Food Bank Garden across from the Farmer's Mark
