 ngton University’s Office of Sustainability will be hosting national
 ly-acclaimed urban transportation planner, Mia Birk. Birk will be pres
 enting and reading from her newly-released book, “Joyride: Pedaling 
 Toward a Healthier Planet” as well as leading community discussions 
 on the topic of alternative transportation in Bellingham.\nThe event w
 ill take place on Wednesday, October 13th at 7:00pm in the Western Was
 hington University Viking Union Multi Purpose Room.\nThe reading will 
 be followed by an information fair, featuring local organizations and 
 advocacy groups that specialize in alternative transportation topics, 
 programs, and community action. The event is free and open to the gene
 ral public. During this hour-long community presentation, Mia will rea
 d excerpts from her book, discuss her personal journey to integrate cy
 cling into her daily life, and share her inspirational ideas for healt
