 ed to present Nicole Foss (Stoneleigh), co-editor of The Automatic Ear
 th (www.theautomaticearth.blogspot.com).  Ms. Foss will be speaking a
 t the Lummi Island Grange Hall on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 7:30 PM. S
 uggested donation: $7.00. Proceeds will benefit library programs and s
 upport of the Island Library.  The Grange is within easy walking dist
 ance of the ferry dock (about 2 blocks).  It is located at 2200 No. N
 ugent.  Exit ferry, turn right, Grange hall will be on left just past
  the Beach Store Café.\nNicole and her writing partner have been chro
 nicling and interpreting the on-going credit crunch as the most pressi
 ng aspect of our current multi-faceted predicament. The Automatic Eart
 h site integrates finance, energy, environment, psychology, population
  and real politik in order to explain why we find ourselves in a state
  of crisis and what we can do about it. Prior to the establishment of 
 TAE, she was editor of The Oil Drum Canada, where she wrote on peak oi
 l and finance.\nFoss runs the Agri-Energy Producers' Association of On
 tario, where she has focused on farm-based biogas projects and grid co
 nnections for renewable energy. While living in the UK she was a Resea
 rch Fellow at the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies, where she speci
 alized in nuclear safety in Eastern Europe and the Former Soviet Union
 , and conducted research into electricity policy at the EU level.\nHer
  academic qualifications include a BSc in biology from Carleton\nUnive
 rsity in Canada (where she focused primarily on neuroscience and\npsyc
 hology), a post-graduate diploma in air and water pollution control, t
 he common professional examination in law and an LLM in international 
 law in development from the University of Warwick in the UK. She was g
 ranted the University Medal for the top science graduate in 1988 and t
 he law school prize for the top law school graduate in 1997.\n \nPlea
