unity Building To Meet Our Challenges.\n7:00pm at the Phillip Tarro Th
eatre, on the campus of Skagit Valley Community College, as the openin
g event for the Skagit Human Rights Festival.\n The evening starts of
f with a moving slide show created by Chuckanut Transition that explai
ns what Transition is in general and then highlights current transitio
n activities occurring in Skagit County.  A panel discussion follows,
featuring representatives from Chuckanut Transition, Transition Fidal
go and Friends, Transition Whatcom, and Transition Whidbey. Panelists
are Sarai Stevens, David MacLeod, Paul Kearsley, Eileen Jackson, Evely
n Adams, and Chris Soler.\nThe Transition Movement is comprised of vib
rant, grassroots community initiatives that seek to build community re
silience in the face of such challenges as peak oil, climate change an
d the economic crisis. Transition Initiatives differentiate themselves
from other sustainability and \"environmental\" groups by seeking to
mitigate these converging global crises by engaging their communities
  in home-grown, citizen-led education, action, and multi-stakeholder p
lanning to increase local self reliance and resilience.\nListen to a p
odcast of Sarai Stevens and Janet McKinney discussing Chuckanut Transi
tion and this upcoming presentation:  http://24.113.141.253/mp3/suso-
