DESCRIPTION:“Growing Apples and Pears” is a free workshop on the p
 lanting, growing and pruning of apple and pear trees. Training techniq
 ues will be discussed, and techniques for pruning newly planted trees 
 and renovating older trees will be demonstrated.\n \nParticipants wil
 l benefit from the experience and expertise of Cloud Mountain’s exec
 utive director, Tom Thornton, who has grown fruit commercially for mor
 e than 30 years, and over the years, has experimented with several gro
 wing and training systems, as well as pruning techniques.\nWorkshops a
 re held outdoors, so participants should dress for warmth and comfort.
