Event Description

Upcoming Talk On Faith and Environment
Jessica Dye, Outreach Coordinator for Earth Ministry
Wednesday, Feb. 16, at 7 pm.
First Congregational Church of Bellingham
(1 block south of the corner of Cornwall & Alabama St.)

Local church groups have a role to play in the environmental movement. That is the message that Jessica Dye, Outreach Coordinator for Earth Ministry, will bring to Bellingham on Wednesday, Feb. 16, at 7 pm.  Dye will be speaking at the First Congregational Church of Bellingham as part of the information series, "Far, Near Here, an eco faith journey," that is being sponsored by the church's green team, a group which is exploring ways to lessen the church's environmental impact. Earth Ministry (www.earthministry.org) is an ecumenical group focused on helping faith communities  contribute to the environmental movement from a faith perspective.

Dye's talk will explore why people of faith should care about the environment, how local church communities are tackling the issue, and the role the larger faith community can play in environmental advocacy. Dye's talk is the second installment in the series. The following Wednesday, Feb. 23, the series concludes with a panel discussion composed of representatives from local faith groups who will share their experiences working on this issue. The public is invited to both events.
