Event Description

Energy is all around us, lighting our homes, getting us to work, and providing virtually every modern necessity. Although energy is an essential part of our daily lives, we rarely think about where it comes from, how much we use, or where our energy future is heading.

Join us for a six-part series to learn about the single most defining issue of our time: energy and climate. Get an overview of the geology, history, and physics of these complex systems. Each topic may be attended as a stand-alone class. These courses are free and open to the public.

Courses will be taught by Sandy Lawrence, an adjunct faculty at WWU and a retired associate professor of medicine at UC Davis. Sandy has been intensively studying the intersection of energy systems and climate for the past five years.

Jan 29 Wind energy
Feb 5 Coal power
Feb 12 Photovoltaic & other solar
Feb 19 Nuclear power & weapons
Feb 26 Climate change
