DESCRIPTION:How, Then, Shall We Live? Practicing Kinship and Taking th
 e Long View Amidst the Climate Crisis  Dahr Jamail, award winning auth
 or on Climate Change, will be speaking at the Majestic, 1027 North For
 est Street, in Bellingham Thursday October 12th 7-8:30 pm.  The title
  of his talk will be ‘How, Then, Shall We Live?: Practicing Kinship 
 and Taking the Long View Amidst the Climate Crisis’, in which he wil
 l briefly discuss the gravity of the times we are in from a climate pe
 rspective, and then share Indigenous wisdom from ‘We Are the Middle
  of Forever’ which assists in providing perspective, grounding and 
 healing.  His books will be available at the event, and there will be 
 a book signing following the question and answer period.  Jamail's bo
 oks include: ‘End of Ice: Bearing Witness and Finding Meaning in the
  Path of Climate Disruption’ (2019), in which he describes the dama
 ges of climate change on Denali (highest mountain in North America), 
 to the destruction of coral reefs, and the melting glaciers of the Ber
 ing Sea. He shares research backed knowledge that our Earth is in gre
 at danger.  In ‘We are the Middle of Forever: Indigenous Voices from
  Turtle Island on the Changing Earth’ (2022), Jamail joins with Sta
 n Rushworth (Chiricahua Apache Nation, and teacher of Native American 
 Literature) for Indigenous perspectives on Climate Change. In this bo
 ok they interview twenty people of North American Indigenous communit
 ies and geographic regions who share their knowledge and experience.  
 The event has a suggested donation of $10 but no one will be turned aw
 ay due to lack of funds. Please come!  This event is sponsored by the 
 Bellingham Friends Meeting and is co-sponsored by Transition Whatcom, 
 Explorations Academy, Bellingham Unitarian Fellowship, 350 Bellingham
 , Multifaith Network for Climate Justice, and Bellingham Human Rights
