SUMMARY:County Council: 600 Acre Rezone
DESCRIPTION:Tomorrow, Wednesday, the Whatcom County Council is expecte
d to approve an ordinance allowing intensified rural development just
north of Bellingham - the long discussed Caitac/Larrabee Springs prope
rty. Not only is this ordinance opposed by the City of Bellingham (see
their comments, HERE) but it's a bad deal for our community at large,
and will likely be passed without an opportunity for the public to ev
en comment. The decision would rezone nearly 600 acres adjacent to Bel
lingham's urban limits and adjacent to working farmland, increasing co
sts for taxpayers, and making traffic worse. Futurewise will  be at
the meeting hoping to voice our opinions against this rezone and the
non-existent public process.  Can you join us tomorrow, November 9th?
We need to show the County Council that the citizens of Whatcom Count
y support better public process for such an important land use decisio
n for our community. Click here to RSVP and get some brief talking po
ints for your 3 minutes to help Whatcom County plan for a better futur
e! P.S. The Caitac/Larrabee Springs rezones nearly 600 acres, adjace
nt to Bellingham's urban limits and working farmland , without a publi
c hearing. Help us make sure this doesn’t become a new precedent by
joining us in person.\n\nFor more information visit https://transition
