SUMMARY:Clearwater Sanctuary's Permaculture Design Course
DESCRIPTION:Hi Folks,\nThough this is outside Whatcom county, I think
it could be a great opportunity for us to learn how to design our own
communities, and live more sustainably.\n\nHere's the lowdown:\nSome f
olks have just purchased some land on the southern side of the Olympic
s, on the Satsop river, with the intention to create a community calle
d Clearwater Sanctuary there. Huckleberry Leonard, the lead teacher fo
r the course, has studied and taught with David Holmgren, Toby Hemmenw
ay, Geoff Lawton, and others, and has been teaching permaculture since
'98. His specialties include natural building and design, edible land
scaping (30 years experience prior to permaculture) and all things bot
anical of the Pacific NW. More on him here.\nThis course is unique b
ecause it includes co-designing how the community will be created. Sta
rting in January, the design that's created in this course will begin
to be implemented. How cool is that?! A permaculture course that's act
ually based on a piece of land, and design that will actually be put i
nto practice.\nMore details below. \n\nClear Water Sanctuary's First
