 he former Fairhaven Park Rose Garden and Caretakers House. Working wit
 h a Small & Simple grant, the South Neighborhood Association and the E
 dgemoor Neighborhood Association partnered with the Center for Local S
 elf-Reliance to create a new master site plan for the area. That compl
 eted design is now being presented to city officials. Once approved, w
 ork can begin on the rehabilitation of the house, which was used as a 
 youth hostel in the 1990’s. The house, built in 1918, has been vacan
 t since 1998.\n\nThe Center for Local Self-Reliance is the nonprofit o
 rganization responsible for spearheading the effort to revitalize this
  underutilized section of the park. They have developed a website wher
 e you can find details of their work: www.caretakershouse.org While th
 ere, you can sign up to receive monthly e-news messages.\n\nFundraisin
 g is now underway, with a party and silent auction planned for Septemb
 er 12 at the Leopold Ballroom. You may contribute to the silent auctio
