DESCRIPTION:The Port and City of Bellingham are in the process of appr
 oving documents to develop the Bellingham Waterfront.  \nAccording to
  planning documents, the City and Port have spent approximately $52 mi
 llion and will spend another $25 in the next million in the next 25 ye
 ars for land acquisition, planning, design, environmental cleanups, in
 frastructure, parks and trails. \nRE Sources is part of the BlueGree
 n Waterfront Coalition, which joins labor and environmental groups to 
 make sure that the public money spent on this development is used wise
 ly and benefits workers, the environment and our community at large.\n
 We are urging City Council to make sure that planning documents includ
 e:\n• Zoning that triggers the highest level of the entire site so i
 t is safe for people to live, work and visit.\n• Standards for livin
 g wage jobs with affordable healthcare, a focus on hiring local and a 
 voice in the workplace. \n• Shoreline restoration,habitat protectio
 n and a habitat plan to allow wildlife  to thrive. \n• Alternative
  options other than a yacht marina for the wastewater lagoon.\n• An 
 incorporation of public input into the final documents.\n\nJoin us on
