SUMMARY:Bellingham Repair Café
DESCRIPTION:Operation hours are the First Wednesday of each month from
6 PM to 9 PM and the First Sunday of each month from 3 PM to 6 PM\n\n
\nThe Bellingham Repair Café is held at The Foundry (bellinghamfoundr
 y.com). 1515 N. Forest Street, Bellingham.\n\nThe Bellingham Repair Ca
fé is a twice - a - month social event to which you can bring your br
oken items to have them repaired for free (unless certain parts are ne
eded). Over 50% of consumer items can be given a second life with litt
le effort preserving resources and expense and counteracting consumpti
on, waste and \"planned obsolescence\". Don't have anything that needs
fixing? Just stop by and watch and learn or socialize in a friendly a
tmosphere with a complimentary cup of tea or coffee and a pastry.\nBri
ng your children\nRecognizing the needs of (single) parents the Café
is child friendly. There is a separate room with toys.\nHow do we make
money?\nWe don't! We do what we do out of the conviction that it is n
ecessary. And we have lots of fun! But we do have to eat. So for occas
ional salary payments and to cover our operating costs we rely on dona
tions and on sponsors.\n \nFacts:\nIn the past three decades, one-thi
rd of the planet’s resources, its ‘natural wealth,’ have been co
nsumed. (millenniumassessment.org). Reusing and recycling are essentia
l to secure our future.\nFor every one garbage can of waste you put ou
t on the curb, 70 garbage cans of waste were made upstream to make
the junk in that one garbage can you put out on the curb (worldwatch.
org). Every item we can keep out of the landfill therefore will save r
esources far beyond what is contained in the broken item.\nOn average,
every person in the US creates almost 5lb of waste every day.\n\n\nFo
