SUMMARY:Bellingham Repair Café
DESCRIPTION:Operation hours are the First Wednesday of each month from
6 PM to 9 PM and the First Sunday of each month from 3 PM to 6 PM\nNE
 XT CAFE'S:\nWed., Feb. 3, 6-9pmSun., Feb. 7, 3-6PM\n\nThe Bellingham R
epair Café is held at The Foundry (bellinghamfoundry.com). 1515 N. Fo
rest Street, Bellingham.\n\nThe Bellingham Repair Café is a twice - a
  - month social event to which you can bring your broken items to have
them repaired for free (unless certain parts are needed). Over 50% of
consumer items can be given a second life with little effort preservi
ng resources and expense and counteracting consumption, waste and \"pl
anned obsolescence\". Don't have anything that needs fixing? Just stop
by and watch and learn or socialize in a friendly atmosphere with a c
omplimentary cup of tea or coffee and a pastry.\nBring your children\n
Recognizing the needs of (single) parents the Café is child friendly.
There is a separate room with toys.\nHow do we make money?\nWe don't!
We do what we do out of the conviction that it is necessary. And we h
ave lots of fun! But we do have to eat. So for occasional salary payme
nts and to cover our operating costs we rely on donations and on spons
ors.\n \nFacts:\nIn the past three decades, one-third of the planetâ€
™s resources, its ‘natural wealth,’ have been consumed. (millenniu
massessment.org). Reusing and recycling are essential to secure our fu
ture.\nFor every one garbage can of waste you put out on the curb, 70
garbage cans of waste were made upstream to make the junk in that
one garbage can you put out on the curb (worldwatch.org). Every item w
e can keep out of the landfill therefore will save resources far beyon
d what is contained in the broken item.\nOn average, every person in t
he US creates almost 5lb of waste every day.\n\n\nFor more information
