DESCRIPTION:Come one, Come All to the Whatcom Action Coalition's Artfu
 l Action Workshop!\n\nThis coming Thursday the Whatcom Action Coalitio
 n will host a presentation and discussion on artful activism.  This p
 resentation is absolutely free, free, free!  Having just returned fr
 om the Backbone Campaign's Localize This! Action Camp, we intend to in
 cite conversation about what we learned, with the outcome of developin
 g strategic, creative actions as part of the community resistance to t
 he Gateway Pacific Coal Terminal.  It is also an opportunity to than
 k all you generous folks that financially supported WAC's trip to Loca
 lize This!\n\nMirami, Zoie and Eric will share visuals of some of the 
 creative actions that the Backbone Campaign, Greenpeace, The Other 98%
 , and other groups have created.  These tactics can be highly effecti
 ve in increasing visibility of issues, pushing social dialogue, build 
 alliances, and ultimately change on a range of issues.  By using crea
 tive tactics  and humor these groups disarm and engage their audience
 , inviting new people to work with them because they are just fun to w
 ork with.\n \n\nThe workshop will include creating strategic and mean
 ingful direct actions, types of direct actions, desired outcomes of di
 rect actions actions, and the anatomy of an action (types of roles and
  affinity groups).  All of this material will be presented in the con
 text of an upcoming action, a fantastic way to apply the ideas that wi
 ll be shared!\n\nThere is a wealth of knowledge and experience in all 
 types of activism in Whatcom County, and we aim to incite discussion 
 among participants through the presentation material, drawing on the 
 wisdom in the room for a mutually enriching and empowering experience.
