 Be a positive influence in our community, work, and home? \n..... Tra
 nsform conflict into a tool for positive change? \nWe understand that
  conflict is a normal part of life but believe that violence—whether
  verbal, physical, \nemotional, or spiritual—doesn't need to be. We
  believe that conflict can be used as a tool for change and \ntransfo
 rmation. \nThe Alternatives to Violence Project, and Partner Organiza
 tions are joining to offer a Workshop in Creative \nConflict Resoluti
 on for Whatcom County on April 25th-27th. \nOur workshops use the sha
 red experiences of participants, interactive exercises, games and role
 -plays to \nsee beyond differences, to explore common ground and disc
 over the power within ourselves to transform \nour lives. AVP's inten
 sive, 18-hour experiential workshops develop participants' conflict re
 solution and \ncommunity leadership skills. The workshops are not lec
 tures, they are safe environments where we learn to \ndevelop key abi
 lities to: \n · Build Cooperative relationships & Finding Common 
 Ground \n · Strengthen Communication skills & Listening \n ·
  Improve Self-esteem \n · Learn assertiveness \n · Manage An
 ger \n · Let go of Grudges \n · Transform Conflict \n ·
  Clarify Values \n · Practice thinking out of the box \n\nWorksh
 ops will begin on Friday night, continue all day Saturday and end on S
 unday afternoon (please \ncommit to the whole schedule as each sessio
 n builds on the previous). A meal schedule is included on the \nregis
 tration form. AVP programs are volunteer-based, grassroots programs op
 erating in 28 states in the \nUS and 40 countries worldwide ( Avpusa.
