DESCRIPTION:The garden tour unlike all the others returns for its thir
 d season. As always this year’s tour features a fascinating blend of
  gardens that reflect local economy, conservation, good stewardship, h
 omes of production, backyard habitat, home energy creation.Meet, netwo
 rk, and gain tips from Samish watershed residents who are working to c
 ultivate a healthy, resilient, and vibrant community one garden at a t
 ime. Tour homes of production and conservation in \"downtown\" Bow, fe
 aturing beautiful front yard organic vegetable gardens, mini-orchards 
 and back yard chickens to feed family and neighbors on small lots. Se
 e how to create a sustainable farm, raise sheep and chickens, create a
  backyard sanctuary for wildlife and people while also using solar pow
 er, learn the benefits of establishing native trees and shrubs along f
 ish bearing streams and river. Learn skills of how to grow a healthy n
 eighborhood as you grow healthy food and protect our native habitat!Th
 e event is FREE and will be held from 11 am to 3 pm on Sunday, July 20
 th!  Maps and directions to each of the featured gardens on this self
 -guided tour will be available between 10:30 am and 2 pm at the Alger 
 Community Hall, located at 18735 Parkview Lane, Burlington (Alger).  
 The Sustainable Samish Garden Tour is being hosted by Chuckanut Transi
 tion, Friday Creek Habitat Stewards, and Skagit Conservation District.
