Transition Whatcom

Hello there humans,

I recently started putting some attention into a patch of woods that has an unhealthy amount of ivy growing in it. I've heard that goats eat ivy (english ivy, not the poisonous type), and I've also read about rent-a-goat programs for dealing with invasive plants in an ecologically sound way. I thought it was a pretty cool idea.

http://www.rentaruminant.com/ here's the website of a professional rent-a-goat company, for example.

If you have some goats and are interested in trying out using them as an invasives-removal team, let me know and we can work out a trade of some sort.

Hey Naomi,  I just LOVE this idea!!!  Whenever I see ivy choking a stand of trees I feel such empathy for those poor trees and helpless to know that nothing short of a major work party will save them.  FYI TW:  I would be into buying goat milk from anyone who needs some funds to keep their "goat team" going!      Jean

Pairing a rent-a-goat herd with a milk-producing herd would be so cool! I don't know a ton about goats, but I bet it would be possible. Just think of how much free food is out there to keep those mama goats fed if they were eating plants we need cut back anyway. Thanks for the suggestion!
