a FREE 'Complete the Street' Walk & Workshop, next Wednesday, July 13th from 6:30-8pm.

Complete Streets play an important role in livable communi­ties, where all people – regardless of age, ability or mode of transportation – feel safe and welcome on the roadways.

 

You'll get an overview of Complete Streets, the policy changes needed to get us there as a community, and a brief walking tour of some key intersections in Downtown Bellingham to see exactly what we’re talking about in action, including an explanation of how Bellingham could step it up to Complete the Street!

WHERE: Pickford’s Limelight Theater (1416 Cornwall Avenue) and some key intersections and streets in Downtown Bellingham
WHY: Complete Streets are the latest tool to help ensure transportation choices that work for everyone, and we have a Complete Streets expert in town for 1 night only!

Join us for a fun and informative evening with Peter Lagerwey, Senior Planner at Toole Design Group, one of the nation's leading planning and design firms specializing in multi-modal transportation. Peter is a nationally known expert having worked on non-motorized projects and made presentations in over 200 states, counties and cities, and most recently was the project manager for developing and implementing the widely acclaimed Seattle Bicycle Master Plan.

In town for 1 night only, Peter brings extensive experience in the development and implementation of policies and programs related to bike lanes, sharrows, bicycle parking, marked crosswalks, school signing, curb ramps, sidewalks and trails.
