Event Description

Permaculturist, Paul Wheaton, will be visiting Inspiration Farm to offer a workshop in hugelkultur ("hugle-culture"). This is a technique for composting scrap wood and yard waste and planting a garden on top of it--this makes for raised beds loaded with organic material, nutrients, air pockets for the roots of what you plant, and retaining water. As the years pass, the deep soil of your bed becomes incredibly rich and loaded with soil life. $10-$20 sliding fee. Carpooling or biking highly recommended (veggie prizes for people who bike!)

I hope Paul can post one of his photo's or video's showing a fully planted hugelkulture 2 years or more after its been planted, that is thriving & fruiting without being watered.

This will be a great event though we have a houseful of relatives that day. Thanks for putting this on Brian!

Hi Heather, we have enough brush and stumps to use. if people want to bring any perennial plants to put in that would be great, otherwise we have everything we need. I am open for this to morph into a potluck meal at the end if people want to bring some food to share.

Hey Brian! Are you going to offer folks to bring by their piles of brush to add to your hugelkulture?
I'll send this invite out to folks! I try to swing by mid afternoon if I make it out of Semiahoo in time.
