GrowthBusters: Hooked on Growth by Dave Gardner, Colorado Springs.

"One man takes on City Hall and Wall Street as he questions society's most fundamental beliefs about prosperity."

I own a DVD of this film, and I believe TW does as well.

I saw this film at this years NW Permaculture Convergence!!  A MIGHTY fine film for dealing with water retention gardening.  This film might be a GREAT catalyst film for Christ The King church as well as the Pickford.

I met with this man yesterday and did a garden/land use tour ~ PHENOMENAL!!!  its able to be seen for free on line or a CD purchased for $15. ~ I took LOTS of video at his place yesterday with David Zhang and myself, I plan to post that when I am able.  PLEASE consider showing this FILM ASAP, b/c we can do a TON to get ready for next spring with this valuable information.

The Next Industrial Revolution

I was so inspired and filled with hope. Anyone who thinks polluting is a necessary evil needs to see how William McDonough and Michael Braungart are proving that premise wrong. I think this should be shown to all highschoolers for inspiration and hope for a decent future.

Keep the suggestions flowing in. If you are interested in helping select and schedule our next few movies please let me know.

There has been an excellent response to our movie showings so far and we want to continue growing the event so it can become a fund raising source for TW (as well as a great way to educate and spread the word). The Pickford has been very generous in providing us with 50% of the gate so this is an opportunity we can't miss out on!

I would highly recommend "The Power of Community: How Cuba Survived Peak Oil" - the story of how Cuba got through their oil-scarce "special period" and adopted permaculture and new lifestyles to adapt.

I just watched "Thrive" and loved it.  A friend here in Bellingham has the DVD so perhaps I could borrow it for our Film Night.  Also, http://geneticroulettemovie.com/  Genetic Roulette about GMO - a real education! Yikes....

Bitter Seeds” - http://www.bullfrogfilms.com/catalog/bitter.html

(Raises critical questions about the human cost of genetically modified agriculture and the future of how we grow things. Set in India, Ram Krishna, a cotton farmer at the epicenter of the suicide crisis region, is struggling to keep his land. Manjusha, the neighbors' daughter, is determined to overcome village traditions and become a journalist. Ram Krishna's plight becomes her first assignment.)

Radically Simple” http://www.bullfrogfilms.com/catalog/rads.html   35” (Jim Merkel, engineer & author, presents his views on sustainable living in public presentations &workshops at his home. These meetings, which revolve around discussions on global economics & resource consumption, show Merkel leading by example. He demonstrates that a radically simple lifestyle - while at times intimidating - is not only possible but extremely satisfying. )

Water on the Table” http://www.bullfrogfilms.com/catalog/wott.html ( Features the “international water-warrior”, Maude Barlow, for her crusade to have water declared a human right. "Water must be declared a public trust and a human right that belongs to the people, the ecosystem and the future, and preserved for all time and practice in law. Clean water must be delivered as a public service, not a profitable commodity....Rivers have rights to flow to the sea.”)

Biophilic Design” (Architecture of Life- A design revolution that connects buildings to the natural world, buildings where people feel and perform better.)

Thank you Warren, Emily & Twog for bringing films to our community.  I really enjoyed "The Farmer & His Horse" and look forward to the Natural Farming film.

~ I'd suggest "Earth 2100" ~ A VERY powerful film about a baby born in 2009, following her life until 2100 ~ Doc/ Animation mix ~ VERY intriguing!!!  I know who has it to borrow from if that's helpful!! ~ Jamie
