Anyone seeking a chicken coop?  If so, I'll put you in touch with someone who has one to give way (there might be two of them)

Molly, are you still looking for a coop?  I have a neighbor that has an old coop in his yard that I think he is just going to tear down.  I can get his contact info for you, if you're interested in this coop (haven't seen it up close, but I think it accommodated 5+ chickens.

Question for you Flockers:  We have three new empty garden beds (two 8' x 3', one 3.5' x 2') that we filled half-way with the mud that was in the chicken yard.  This mud has a lot of organic material from leaves that had been put over the ground to keep the chickens from walking around in wet mud.  My thinking is that, with the chicken poop and the leaves, this mud will help make fertile soil for the new raised beds.  In a month or so, we will be filling the beds the rest of the way with soil (from Grow Source) and mix it with the "chicken mud".

My question is:  could this create a too high concentration of chicken manure?  Should we add more organic material before adding the additional soil?

Thanks for your advice!  ;-)

Molly I would imagine building one out of wood from pallets and some hardware from the restore would be the most cost effective way to go about it. Here is a link to a google search that has some good plans and ideas to explore. Having never done them it is hard to recommend one. http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=wood+pa...

I am not sure if this is where to put this but i would love to build my own coop or get a cheap one (really cheap one) I am looking to keep any where from 3-8 chickens. If any one knows of any leads on coop plans with material list that would be awsome. Thanks

Molly

IThis is Lady Liberty, her other half is Gentleman Justice (not shown).  They are just a pair of the birdies I have here at the hamster farm.

You can order any kind you want, as long as we have a total of 25 chicks.  Add about $2 per chick on for shipping.

Alicia, do you know if you have to order all one kind of chicken or can you get a combination? I'm liking our Rhode Island Reds, or maybe the Americuna (not sure how to spell it).  Angela

I'm interested in getting four chicks and a couple ducklings, Angela.  If anyone else is ready for babies this spring, I'd be happy to coordinate an order.  The minimum order from McMurrays is 25 chicks and 2 ducks.  So we would need orders for another 18 chicks.  Anyone else interested?  I'd be looking at an early to mid-March order.    Alicia 715-1259     http://www.mcmurrayhatchery.com

We'd like to add 2 or 3 more hens to our little flock. I know some people do chick orders and have to do a minimum order, and not want as many as they will be getting. So if you plan to do this and want to sell us a few, let me know.
