Do you think white birch would be good for shiitake? We had to remove one in our yard in order to redo the sewer line. I'd like to use it for shiitake plugs unless you think it isn't a good type of wood. I've read that any hard wood is good to use but in other places birch was not on the list of the suggested. Any way our birch was cut down just a couple days ago.
