A co-worker mentioned Transition to me. At the least, I can see what's coming up in the community, for news shorts and maybe longer stories. Sorry, no chickens, except in the oven.

Hi Kate! I wanted to share my appreciation for how well the last Thurs Transition Party Up Meeting was organized. I really liked the pattern of the chairs in the room being in multiple half-circles, and how the flow of our time together moved from networking to solo-presentation to small group time and back to networking! It was a great pattern for creating space & form to allow us to share & learn. Well done to you and other twig members & volunteers!
(Great egg from your chicken too!) See you at the Thursday's lively Storm!

Ok, well first of all, I got the days confused and untill just a little while ago I thought that last night was tonight...silly me. I just started school this past week and my brain is a bit frazzled. So, no, I was not there last night, but I intended to be. I am a bit bummed I missed it. How was it? As for my page, I went to where it says update your profile when you first log in to transition whatcom and then I pick one of the layouts and then picked out colors for the layout. It was quite fun, I love playing with colors. I do look like my picture, although I am not nearly as contrasted and yellow in real life. I am not sure if you know me, but I bet we would recognize each other in person. I feel like I did meet you somewhere once. Maybe out at inspiration farm? Anyhow, hope your day is beautiful.

No, unfortunately we were out of town that weekend! But I've heard great comments from the neighbors and everyone is looking forward to doing it again next year. We hope to participate!

I definitely think it could be done. I've been looking at the City's bike maps trying to find the best route. How far up Alabama Hill does your friend live? I had a pretty short (0.9 miles) and flat route that was almost entirely within neighborhood streets. The only crossing was Broadway near Elizabeth Park. I would be concerned about the heavy items making it up and down some of the hills, but i think it could work. It may just take more creativity when packing the trailers to make it through narrow trails, or busy streets. Sounds like a fun challenge - I'd be glad to help!

Thank you for sending me your good thoughts. I had a spectacular day hiking in the mountains and eating lunch from the garden, washed down with homemade strawberry-rhubarb pie from the garden. Yummmmy.
Cheers! Cheryl

Hi Kate,
The garden tour went great. We got to see many different gardens with veggies, berries, fruit trees, chickens, and beehives! It was fun, social, and informative all at once. Plus we ate bluebarb pie (blueberry rhubarb) and jumped on the trampoline. A perfect day, really.
Sometime I would be interested in what you thought of the Derek Jensen talk. Hope your chicks like their new home! --Chris

Oops, sorry Kate. I have spent my last 5 months creating Cordata Community Gardens. (not nearly as exciting as working on a sailboat for sure.)

Dear Kate....... As I have spent that last year deeply involved in researching how people can change the story at many levels I would love to lead a workshop on changing the story. It is my personal bias I know however I strongly believe that we cannot change or promote change while living under the cloud of the old paradigm .

Hi Kate,

I know there's been a community garden for years at the corner of 10th & Donovan. Other than that, I haven't heard anything. I'm planning cherry tomatoes for my deck ;-) Maybe some other things as well.
