Hi Christie, The cider press belongs to Merry Teesdale. It is back at her place now. Call her directly if you still have a need for it. Best wishes......Sandie

Hi Christie,
Please forgive me for not responding sooner, all of my free time is outside these days. You are welcome to come get perennials out of my garden any weekend and almost any evening during the week. It was so good to meet you, glad you joined us!

What's this I see about a gleaning group? I will check it out and join.

Best,
C - 820-8586

Hi Christie, good fruit gleaner letter. Maybe mention a line about how gleaners help preserve the health of the fruit tree by having any fruit removed from the ground before it attracts insects & disease....Gleaner improve & help maintain the health of our trees!

Hey Christie...

Sorry my phone access is not good lately - since I've moved into the yurt and my phone is across town. I just got your message 2 days later. This weather sucks and I'm not gardening much in it. I know we need rain but I miss the sun.

Hi Christie! Good to hear about your first gleaning meeting! I won't be able to attend, I have an 'animal' composting group I'm attending! I hope see you at one of the upcoming events, maybe seed-ball fling or the 'Walking Gaia's Gardens'.

Hi! What do you think about sometime posting under ol Harvest group a Discussion on local gleaning organizations & their mission & info...like the Small Potatoes group...I can think of some reasons why some 'land-owners' will go through them to find gleaners, and maybe some of our efforts might help them out...just some thoughts that might help share info to new folks coming on to the group...I appreciate you taking the lead & your birthing vision.

Hi Christie! Re meeting times for the Harvest! gang! I like to eat & meet or garden & meet or walk & meet...Let me get through the next week or so with Larry Korn, One Straw Revolution coming up...Maybe you would be interested in pursueing Marlee O from Skagit who does wild-edible walks to come north for an edible walk/workshop...there is an event posted on TW site down in skagit with her. Re Larry Korn itinary, it is so brief since he's here only a few days...can you check in with David p about other options on his 3rd day May 12, plus unkown time/place for the moment re meals/firecircle or not on tues may 11th....I'm waiting to find out myself re that time.

Great to see your new group 'Harvest!" is up now!
There is a way to invite both TW friends and send an an email invite to all your other earth-care-harvest friends. (Click on "invite more" , then scroll & click some more and "Send"). You also might consider asking a couple friends be online co-admins with you.
Mmmm now what will be first...spinach or honeyberry's, strawberries, or yellow plums?

mmm I'm imagining laying on ground under blooming orchard field with buzzing bees & birds and soft breeze with the fragrance of mint! I just love that you get the importance of hands in the dirt...and how food tastes best the closer to the earth & our fingertips it is.
I'd enjoy reading some of your written thoughts in a blog...maybe call it "Christie's Gleanings" and add a new one throughout the season when you have a new inspiration & gleaning experience.
And you're also welcome to start a discussion under one of the TW groups and direct your friends & connections there....Make a decision on if you think the discussion would fit better under this Organic Gardeners...Permi group, or within the newest group, Gaia's Guardians, that is still not off the ground with the needed helpers yet, that has an emerging focus on both landsharing & volunteer & mentoring opportunities....(And there is also the new group, on Small Food Gardens)
I do think I understand about your comments re food bank....If you can find some good fruit tree gleaning locations before the food bank folks do, and make a connection/plan with the landowners that includes your ideas of processing the food together with the neighborhood, I think you'd become real popular. I care some fruit trees near where Iive...and some years the owner forgets how much we would appreciate storing the apples, and I'll drive home and find the small-p gleaners driving away with their truck full taking the fresh food out of the neighborhood into town....See you in the garden or around fire circle!

Yes it was fun to laugh together in the garden & be officially introduced at food potluck!
Run with your vision re sharing tools for processing fresh foods also! Chris Elder is in the urban zone and he may have connections with some cidar presses & tools close in that zone....and great ideas I head on having a bulletin board at The Foundry!

You could consider also connecting with Max Morange sometime, who I think is still overseeing the local "Small Potatoes Gleaning Project"...I think they mostly do in-season-gleaning, which is great fun and collects fresh food before it makes it way to the compost pile!

Both Chris & Max have pages on this TW site and can be found under the Members list on main page. And be sure to meet Chris Wolf sometime in the York neighborhood that rocks with putting in each others gardens & sharing resources!
