Event Description

Community members are invited to join Bellingham Mayor Kelli Linville, the Planning Commission, City Council and City staff for an open house on September 15 to help "fine-tune" our adopted Comprehensive Plan. The open house will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15, at Old City Hall (121 Prospect Street, 2nd floor, Rotunda Room).

This open house is one of several opportunities for the community to help identify potential updates, refinements and additions to the plan, a 20-year vision and roadmap for the City's future. The plan is the framework for Bellingham's big-picture decisions on how to grow while preserving and improving our neighborhoods.

Participants will visit topic tables to talk with City staff and provide feedback on issues such as housing affordability and choices, healthy communities, sustainability, innovation and urban villages. The Comprehensive Plan will be reviewed and updated by focusing on the key refinements identified by the community, the Planning Commission and City Council, and to meet technical requirements established by the State. Community input is an important part of the planning process. We look forward to hearing from you!

Comments/questions are welcome throughout the planning process. Send an email to compplan@cob.org. For more information, visit cob.org/compplan, or visit Engage Bellingham to provide additional input at engage.cob.org.

Note that in a recent public meeting in Port Townsend, community resilience was voted as a top priority. From the Transition US Newsletter: "Following a visit by Transition trainer Tina Clarke, hosted by Port Townsend's Transition Initiative, Local 20/20, residents voted Transition and community resilience as top priority for the city's comprehensive plan update."
