Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition?
Bellingham Food Bank's Garden Project works to bring together folks in our community together and promote organic home gardening.

Together, we'll grow food and community from the ground up!
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I appreciate the networking ablitiy that Transition Whatcom provides.

We're actively recruiting for folks who want to participate in the Garden Project and there are many ways to be involved.

We're recruiting households that would like a garden and the support that the program offers.

We're also looking for construction volunteers and mentors.
Do you have particular interests, skills, talents or resources you would like to bring to Transition Whatcom?
The entire focus of the Garden Project is to empower folks who want to grow their own food with the resources and skills that it takes to do so. As we have the last two years, in 2012, the Garden Project will build 25 free raised-bed vegetable gardens at low-income households in Bellingham. We provide the garden bed, soil, seeds and plant starts, basic gardening resources, and education in the form of mentoring and workshops. While seeds grow to abundance, gardeners grow with a sense of accomplishment and community connection.
In what neighborhood or part of the county do you reside?

Hello Garden Project (is this Max?),   I'm interested in helping co-create a community greenhouse.  I was told your garden mentor program was full back in april when I called.    If you have openings next year I can help out.

It would be great to connect in person sometime.  One way is to meet me at a garden work party, that is followed by a meal.  This tuesday we meet in Columbia neighborhood at 6pm and eat around 7:30.  Address at 1507 E. Maplewood Ave – backyard garden.

Here are the links to the Sustainable Bellingham's Rolving Garden Partys with more details.

There are some great folks who come to each work party!

Next week we are out near Cain Lake.  We help with different neighbors projects through mid June, and then start up again next spring.  Hope to meet you someday!
