Hi David,
I'd love to talk to you more about this, and am happy to find another forester on Transition Whatcom. It would be great to get together and compare notes, let's set a time to talk, okay? Can you come into town and meet? We could also wait awhile to meet and see who else joins this group, as I believe you joined within about 1/2 hour of its formation!

What are your thoughts about coppicing, as I thought it was mainly a technique used for fast growing, multiple stemmed trees like willows. What I've learned about coppicing is from a basket maker, who has told me that having the trees to coppice is their primary problem. I also thought that coppicing is a way to grow new tree starts, which may or may not be the focus of this cooperative, since tree starts are available at a reasonable price. What is your experience with coppicing?

Great, we'll keep that in mind! I also have a number of peak oil documentaries - The End of Suburbia, What A Way to Go, Peak Oil Imposed by Nature, etc.

We will be planning awareness raising events soon.

Welcome David!

Are you the person who organized the showing of "The Great Squeeze" at Fairhaven College Auditorium? I hope you had good attendance and good discussion.
