Dec 17th is the Transition Whatcom Community Shopping Day at the Food Coop. The Food Coop donates a portion of all sales (2%) on that day to Transition Whatcom. - How are you currently involved in the Transition?
- I am interested in learning more about gardening, seed saving, water conservation, alternative energy, food preserving, edible wild food identification. I am a life long student of Herbs and Aromatherapy for health, medicine and family care. We are an urban family. We love exploring local environments and photographing the beauty that surrounds us here in NW. We are also stargazers, using the telescope or just laying on the ground seeing the
wonders of the night sky.
- In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
- Its necessary to share skills and information with others who envision an abundant life in ways that do not relying on big business, factory farms, and finite resources as the population grows exponentially on our planet. This current unbalanced mode is obviously not sustainable on any level as it is not healthy for any life forms. I am very interested in finding community, and building interdependent relationships with others who work toward a more enlightened evolution. Fortunately there is a large array of sustainable methods to cultivate as we can draw from the past while integrating the new.
- Do you have particular interests, skills, talents or resources you would like to bring to Transition Whatcom?
- Herbs, Aromatherapy. Henna Arts, Possible volunteering and or work.
- In what neighborhood or part of the county do you reside?
- Near downtown Bellingham
- Where did you hear about Transition Whatcom and how did you find our community network website?
- Friend referral, and the Folk School catalog.

I plan to attend cidar press work party at Center for Local Self Relicance this saturady, and then maybe find some folks to go looking for mushrooms with to bring to park Sat pm in time for sundays show. Most of us share our news & events with Shannon who volunteers her time to compile & emails them out as 'Garden E-News'. (That helps keep all our online-garden-traffic low).
This weekend there is lots going on – Seed-Saving Class with Celt, annual Mushroom Show, Cidar Pressing, two Chinese Medicine classes with Dov, and our regional Permaculture Convergence!
