Pruning Overgrown Fruit Trees at 4445 Northwest Rd, behind the old buffalo farm

February 26, 2012 from 10am to 12pm
Come to a hands-on workshop about pruning fruit trees at an orchard where there are large trees in need of help. There are a variety of mature trees that have been left unpruned for 4 or 5 years. Here's a rare chance to problem solve and actually work on trees in the real orchard environment. Our teacher will be Travis Dickson, who has been pruning fruit trees for 12 years and has taught many classroom style seminars about pruning theory. Come prepared for any weather, and bring your saws,…See More

Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition?
I am a member of the core team of Transition Whatcom.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I think it is vitally important to our community, nation, and the world that we move from the current globalization model to a more localized model. To make this possible we must recognize the importance of the relocalization effort and its multifaceted approach to sustainability. The Transition Initiative offers a way to make this happen by sharing information and ideas to help make this transition a reality.
In what neighborhood or part of the county do you reside?

Hi Sandy, thanks for contacting me! I would love to carpool to the training in Seattle with you. I would rather spend the night down there than drive down and back twice in a weekend, especially since we are all about reducing dependence on oil! I would also be really interested in getting together with you to find out what Transition is already happening in the York neighborhood, and if my neighborhood gardening/composting ideas would be useful or are already being done. Would you like to meet for tea sometime? My phone number is 961-9028. Thanks! --Chris
