Resource Library

After reading http://www.resilience.org/stories/2013-03-15/on-the-skill-of-sharing-and-the-sharing-of-skills, I wondered if Transition Whatcom has a Resource Library. I can think of all sorts of things my wife and I would be willing to loan, from cloth napkins to tools to a karaoke machine to a large cooler.See More

Tea and Seeds with Celt at Celt's Garden - RSVP for address

March 10, 2013 from 2pm to 4pm
Join me sorting and packing seeds to give away. Take home some of whatever strikes your fancy. Have tea and pick my brain about subsistence gardening, seed saving and plant breeding. Spring is here, and we are making up a large care package for Beth Chisholm at WSU to give to her community gardeners. Donations to the cause cheerfully accepted.See More

Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition?
I'm not, except in the sense that I've been working on being a conscientious consumer. I want "act locally and think globally" to be something I live, and not just something I say.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I feel passionately about living differently, living sustainably. I've been passionate about social and economic justice for a lot of years, and the transition movement is in large part about justice. My wife and I are in the process of moving to the Bellingham area, and we want to meet like-minded people.
Do you have particular interests, skills, talents or resources you would like to bring to Transition Whatcom?
I've been reading works of Chris Hedges, Robert Jensen and David Korten. I have spent most of my life working with kids, so I'd like to think I have some skills in that regard. Aside from that, I bring an eagerness to learn. I'm somewhat of a city guy who is, shall we say, evolving.
In what neighborhood or part of the county do you reside?
Bellingham
Where did you hear about Transition Whatcom and how did you find our community network website?
I found it through Sustainable Bellingham, which I found via an Internet search.
Please note that you do not have to answer all of the above questions in order to join, and you can always come back later to edit your profile. If it's all too many questions for now, please provide a short answer below on why you'd like to join this site (or a summary of the above, if answered).
I want to live "acting locally and thinking globally."

Hi Garrett.  Nice to see you. I am glad you are trying to grow intentionally. I wish more of us realized the necessity for this.  This is an urgent task for all of us, individually and as a species.  And it is best done collectively, since individually we are so blind and dum, both on relative and absolute terms with reference to our survival requirements.  I wish you much success in your journey, both for you individually and for our species sake.
